“ The portion is too much, we are two persons Nd couldn’t finish it. The katsu is perfectly fried and the miso sauce is bold ”
“ A famous miso tonkatsu restaurant in Nagoya tucked in the building next to the Nagoya train station. Good tonkatsu quality. The signature hot plate pork cut was not very tender though. ”
“ First time having miso katsu and I love it better than regular tonkatsu! Expect a wait, but as soon as you get in line, they take your order so once table is ready, your food comes out super quick. It's a must try dish when visiting Nagoya. ”
“ Tried Misokatsu Yabaton in Nagoya and it was fantastic! This place is famous for serving miso katsu, a true local specialty, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The pork cutlet was crispy and tender, and the rich, savory red miso sauce was packed with flavor—unlike anything I’ve tried before. A must-try if you’re in Nagoya and want to experience an authentic local dish done right! ”
“ When we arrived at Yabaton, there was a huge queue that even extended to the stairs. Honestly, if it wasn’t a highly recommended spot, we probably would’ve passed. But knowing we had to try it while in Nagoya, we decided to wait, and we’re glad we did! A nice touch while waiting, a staff member handed us an English menu and took our order. So by the time we were seated, our food arrived almost immediately with no extra delay. The food was absolutely great, flavorful, satisfying, and definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Nagoya! ”
“ Tonkatsu Yabaton in Nagoya is a beloved institution famous for its miso katsu—crispy pork cutlet topped with a rich, savory red miso sauce that’s unique to the Nagoya region. The restaurant combines traditional Japanese ambiance with modern comfort, and is known for its cleanliness, efficient service, and consistent quality. Portions are generous, and the tonkatsu is fried to perfection—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well-balanced by the bold miso flavor. The interior is cozy and well-maintained, making it a pleasant spot for both solo diners and groups. Yabaton is a must-try for anyone wanting to experience authentic Nagoya-style cuisine in a clean and welcoming setting. ”
“ One of Nagoya’s specialties – red miso pork cutlet. The red miso sauce was absolutely delicious, rich and flavorful. However, the pork cutlet I had had some chewy sinew in parts, and the coating was not the best as it turned soggy quite quickly. This restaurant is on level 9 of Meitetsu Department Store, the same floor as the famous Maruya Honten. We waited about 30 minutes on a Saturday night. I initially wanted to eat hitsumabushi at Maruya Honten, but the queue there was estimated at 90 minutes, and it took us some time to find it because the location on Google map was wrong (it stated B1, but actually at 9th floor). ”
